So...have you seen the news, memes, videos, commentary and support of Trump? Of course you have, unless you are like my director and decided to delete all of your social media and then thirty minutes later, comes back in my office to show me a cat video off of her facebook page, because she realizes social media is now part of life. People are ready to log off, unplug, let go and just let the chips fall where they may.
I on the other hand had fallen asleep when all the ballots were in, and woke up to a flood of messages all over my social media. From that moment til I got to work, a total of 2 hours, I completely understood where that thought process comes from. Thinking that this blonde haired, orange faced, penguin shaped man is about to take over for the "New World". Really America? Then I snapped back into reality, my real world, the place where most of us are all seen the same. I thought about my life, living in New York, being a young haitian american woman in 2016. While I will continue to watch people who will take to the streets and rally against all the wrongdoings and the madness we are about to enter. I will do things a little different.
What I am learning from Trump is that while I, along with many have sat down and pursued my mediocre dreams, it's time to take it and go further. A man who has no credentials to be a president JUST WON! Although he's said the most absurd, obnoxious, disgusting, and ignorant comments, he still won. Even when all of us have looked at him as simply a joke and someone who could not be taken seriously still did everything possible to make his point and stance. Reminder, and a dreadful one, HE - STILL - WON! Yes we all know about white america, white supremacy and the list can go on. The only thing this man had in common with most of his followers, was his race and some might say ideals.
But I would like to take a second to look past that and look at the matter at hand. If this man who he himself probably thought it was a joke to run for the biggest role in america and succeeded, WHAT THE HELL IS STOPPING YOU? At a time like this when there is so much at jeopardy...what the hell is going to hold you back
FYI I did not vote for Trump
