Growing up in fashion I have always loved the intricacies of fashion, and what it can do for someone who wears it. However one thing I have learned and accepted was, how it wasn't always complimentary to my shape. Once I accepted this simple fact, I made it work in my own way, and have since marched to the beat of my own drum.
After learning what makes you comfortable and spoken for, trust me when I say, people will notice the difference. Some of my favorite fashion icons, are usually eccentric with a no hold bar and what fashion is for them, so I tend to do the same. 9 times out of 10, I always have a very over the top piece, that speaks to my personality.
The piece that I am wearing is a Sacai dress that I have been lusting over for some time. First let's appreciate the fact that it actually hides my bum [2 thumbs up]. But I simply love the dress because it's like wearing a comfy tortoise shell, with the wool knit front and draped wool plaid print with an adjustable cinched skirting in back. Whether girl or guy, I think you should always look for things that make you look and feel comfortable while making you feel good.
I like to have an over the top piece because I like to stand out in some sort of way, I love the stares I get from the items that I wear. That is why I like brands like Sacai to Stella McCartney to Balenciaga to United Nude. There is nothing like falling in love with brands/styles/prints that are very popular, but make sure to make this look your own. With social media, its easy to observe the same Givenchy top worn over and over, that it no longer becomes a special look or piece. Take the time to think, "how will this make my wardrobe better and different from the next person purchasing this item". But at the end of the day, make this item your own, with your own look, and don't ever be afraid to experiment. Fashion was made to be fun and experimental.
