Ladies, class is back in session! I hope you have taken the time to clean out your closets thus far. And have made some of the major purchases that were needed. Just be mindful of your budget! Next, is every girl's favorite subject, SHOES! Here we will go over the top 7 shoe styles you need, now however many you decide to get for each category is up to you. Just make sure you have each of these categories covered.
Flats (Oxfords, Ballet, Derby, Platform)
Whichever you choose make sure you have shoes to save you from your heels and any other uncomfortable shoe. This shoe is easy for any situation, just do me one favor. Get something that will last you and has a cool look. I personally am not a fan of the old Nine West/old navy style flats. Although there is nothing wrong with the price point, this shoe can look rather frumpy very quickly and that's something we don't want.
Whether these are for running around the city or on the treadmill make sure you have something that has great support and it doesn't hurt if it looks funky. I usually like to make sure I start off with a black pair so that it can match all looks and from there I go for the funky fun colors.
Although, I hate rain unless I get to stay in bed, I just act like that shit doesn't exist. However when there are full on downpours, there is nothing to ignore there. You want to have rain boots that can also double as snow boots. Starting off you want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. When you have the coins, you can manage to get them both. I usually like something that comes mid calf that avoids anything getting into your shoes, it's also easy to tuck pants into. When you get these boots, look into purchasing sorel liners to keep those toes warm.
LADIES...this section is very important. Do me the biggest favor of life and get shoes that fit you, and are comfortable for you to walk in. Whether you choose to go for your classic pump, or sling-back or even a double platform, you must be able to walk in these shoes effortlessly. This means, no duck walk, no wobbling, and definitely no drunk walks. This shoe must be a classic that can be paired back to your skinny, high waisted skirt and/or little black dress.
Knee/Thigh High Boots
This shoe is like having a flat but can be a sexier version depending on how it's done. These shoes will be your best friend once fall comes around, it will keep your feet and legs warm while still looking very fashionable. Start off with a clean all leather style, from there the Sky's the limit. I always suggest buying black, then branching off to Browns, and grey suedes, just because you'll never get enough. Your feet will cry from the cold in your flats come fall and winter, so why not invest and go the extra mile.
Booties are a happy medium between knee high boots and a flat. If you tend to have issues finding a good knee high due to calf issues (which I also have, but Stuart Weitzman shoes have been my savior), these are your best go to shoes. You can get a flat, heel or even a kitten heel when it comes to purchasing the bootie. It's just good to know that you have plenty of style options to choose from.
One word, Summer....two words, breathable feet. Sandals clearly aren't something we are rocking here in new york city, although I've seen it a handful of times, and have prayed their toes didn't fall off. Sandals are the final piece missing in your shoe wardrobe, this is one section where you can get the craziest. Summertime is made for over the top, loud statements, so enjoy it!
